Laane County is situated in the north western part of Estonia and is home to Matsalu National Park. This park is one of the most important and biggest parks during autumn, when migratory birds (mostly common cranes) make it their stopping grounds. During spring the scenery changes to housing thousands of ducks, geese, swans, goosanders, waders and more. Only 2 % of the total population of Estonia lives in Laane County.
With its fertile and very spacious land, Laane is ideal for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the major attractions. A complex ecosystem of marshes, waterways, forests and coastal regions are present in the Laane County.
